IMEG is providing engineering design and services for the new event center at McCormick Place, the country’s largest convention center. The new facility is part of a redevelopment plan to transform the surrounding neighborhood into a vibrant entertainment district with new dining and entertainment venues, hotels and streetscapes.
The $150M, 10,600-seat arena, located at the corner of Cermak and Indiana, will be used as a multi-purpose building for concerts, family events, general sessions for conventions at McCormick Place as well as the home facility for DePaul University men’s and women’s NCAA basketball games. The facility will include 22 suites, club seating, team and support service spaces, broadcast facilities, and food and beverage concessions. Restaurants, retail and hospitality space also will be included at the site.
IMEG will provide MEP, FP and technology design along with energy modeling and construction administration services for the project.
Moody-Nolan is the architect of record on the project, with conceptual design by Pelli Clarke Pelli.
The facility is targeting LEED certification and is expected to be open by July 2017.

Established in 1997, JanCom Technologies designs, and documents, IT infrastructure, structured cabling, audiovisual, and critical power systems for a variety of building types and markets. Working primarily as consultants to the architectural community, JanCom provides professional design services that result in cost-effective and manageable construction of technology systems within the built environment.
JanCom will continue to operate under its existing brand for the time being as a division of IMEG Corp., its Texas and Georgia offices becoming the 33rd and 34th locations for IMEG, and its employees growing IMEG’s technology group to 60 team members.
