New Cinematic Arts Expansion

University of Southern California

This project consisted of a 62,500sf expansion to an existing three-story facility. This high-performance building now serves as the primary site for administration of the School and instruction for students seeking degrees in film, television and interactive media. The expansion added screening rooms, audio sensitive rooms, grant research labs, faculty offices, and support spaces. The full design was completed as a three-dimensional process and updated at each design phase and through construction. IMEG provided a fully data rich as-built BIM model that matched the contractor’s model at the completion of construction. We also provided complete energy modeling required by the California Title 24 code. BIM was extensively used on the project, including a fully coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire-sprinkler BIM model that was integrated with the Revit Architectural and TEKLA Structural models. The design and construction team pioneered the use of a COBie certified program of EcoDomus to deliver a 6D model. The model contains the product and maintenance data that the USC facilities team will use to efficiently maintain the building and its systems.
