IMEG provided structural design for the new 130-bed hospital facility. The project is one of the first Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) hospital projects in California and was awarded the FIATECH CETI Award in the Scenario Based Project at the 2009 National BIM Conference. The team was challenged to design and deliver a facility that offers the highest standards of healthcare delivery and operational efficiency within an accelerated schedule and budget. To achieve this, we utilized lean design and construction project management methods enabled by emerging 3D virtual design and assembly technologies to plan, design, coordinate, detail, fabricate, and pre-assemble the various facility components. Value Stream Mapping was used to visually show the work flow processes and look for ways to streamline them to deliver value faster, better, and less expensively.
