IMEG has entered its second decade of medical equipment planning, a fledgling add-on service begun in 2007 that has since grown to become one of the nation’s leading medical An operating room at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown, Md. – one of five greenfield hospitals for which IMEG has provided medical equipment planning.equipment services.
“With medical equipment accounting for up to 30 percent of a new healthcare facility’s construction budget, IMEG has long recognized the importance of providing high-quality planning, procurement and installation of that equipment,” said Medical Equipment Manager Steve Gulock. “We have built our reputation – and dramatically grown our share of the market – through client-centric design provided by technically expert and innovative staff who plan efficient, safe and comfortable patient care.”
IMEG’s medical equipment team has grown from four to 21 members and includes personnel of varying backgrounds, such as hospital operations, clinical engineering, supply chain, and architecture – a reflection of the complex nature of the business. The team has completed more than 100 projects, including Advocate Lutheran General Hospital’s new cardiac catheterization suite in Park Ridge, Ill., a recent recipient of an AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award. In the past 10 years the team also has:
“We have an extensive portfolio of bed towers, outpatient clinics, and ambulatory surgical centers, and we specialize in technical-intensive rooms like hybrid OR’s and cath/EP labs,” said IMEG Project Executive Suraj Soudagar. “We have designed four hybrid OR’s in the last three years that are now operational, and have two more on the books.”
IMEG’s medical equipment team offers a full spectrum of services – from equipment surveys to virtual reality modeling – that can be provided on a stand-alone basis or integrated with IMEG’s technology and MEP design services.
“The service was developed to ‘make life easy’ for design teams and owners,” added Soudagar. “As hospitals continue to move toward value-based care, our team strives to help clients and owners provide patients with lower healthcare costs, improved quality of service, and better outcomes.”
