The VCU Health Community Memorial Replacement Hospital in South Hill, Va., has been named a 2018 ENR MidAtlantic Best Project Award of Merit winner in the health care category. IMEG provided medical equipment planning and technical design for the project, which opened in November 2017. SmithGroup JJR was the project architect, and DPR Construction was the general contractor.
The 166,700-sf, technologically-advanced facility features 70 private patient rooms, three operating room suites, a cesarean section suite, a 16-bay emergency department and an obstetrics department with four LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum) rooms. The hospital also has a permanent cardiac catheterization lab to provide the most advanced cardiac care in the region and a full complement of diagnostic services including MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, cardiac, vascular and pulmonary studies.
