Our firm provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection for the a new 50-bed, 115,000sf Spinal Cord Injury Facility and 43-bed, 44,000sf Community Living Center at the VA San Diego campus.The underlying reference for form and space organization of the project design encourages patients to access roof gardens and courtyards to promote healing. The design approach is holistic and focuses on the patient’s mind, body and spirit. This is achieved by the incorporation of Planetree and other patient-focused design concepts that facilitate patient comfort and recovery. The facility will provide state-of-the-art health care services to veterans suffering spinal cord injury including diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. This facility will be LEED Certified.
