The Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory (IBRL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign opened September 27 with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
IMEG provided MEP, fire protection, and technology design, along with energy modeling and construction administration services, for the $20 million, 25,000-sf lab. The facility is used by faculty and researchers to improve efficiencies, reduce water usage, and increase biofuel production in the corn ethanol industry. Researchers are also developing and improving technologies for next-generation biofuels and value-added products derived from biomass.
The project is pursuing LEED Silver.
