Manufacturing Plant Dust Collection Replacement

Flex-N-Gate produces a majority of the world’s pickup truck bumpers, running boards, and receiver hitches. Its customers include General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, and Toyota, among other manufacturers.

IMEG was selected by Flex-N-Gate to provide M/E/P/S designs to replace the existing dust collection system at the Guardian West plant, located in Urbana. Part of the project was to document the existing HVAC, ventilation and exhaust systems within the building to ensure proper airflow balances within the building after the new dust collection system was installed. IMEG contracted with a local test and balance firm to locate, identify and document all of the existing ventilation equipment and airflows. A design was put together to revise the operation of the existing make up air units and to provide additional make up air to compensate for negative pressure issues within the building.
