Mixed-Use Urban Development
The California Broadway Trade Center on Hill Street (formerly a May Company department store) is 1,100,000-sf of mixed-use space, including offices, stores and restaurants in a 107-year-old building. IMEG has been involved in this project at a high level by working directly with the clients to evaluate the best option(s) for the future use of this building, and providing civil, structural and MEP design for the evaluation.
IMEG provided a seismic upgrade and evaluation of the historical building, which is located in a high seismic zone. Engineers also provided sizing of the main telecommunication rooms and Wi-Fi distribution – including the head-end equipment and conduit distribution between the floors – and coordinated with the utility companies to provide complete telecommunication distribution.
Engineers also provided complete security design for the entire building, including CCTV; access control systems with specifications, complete riser diagram and head-end equipment; performance specifications for the fire alarm system design; and layout of fire alarm devices.
