New Fairview Residence Hall – Pursuing LEED Silver

IMEG provided engineering design services for the new Fairview House, a 5-story building featuring student rooms, a large multi-purpose room, lounges on each floor, outdoor kitchen and barbeque, and a cardio-fitness center. The new student housing facility contains approximately 500 beds.

IMEG coordinated with the project team to make sure mechanical and electrical systems were integrated into the architectural design of the building. The design team provided engineering for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. This project helped set engineering standards for future campus development through sustainable design and cost-efficient construction methods.

Equipment selections included direct-expansion refrigeration fan coil units, central water heating and softening, fire protection and sprinklers, supply/ return/ exhaust ducts, plumbing, power, and lighting.

Sustainable features include occupancy sensors throughout each living unit, high-efficiency mechanical units, and a combination of fluorescent and LED lighting.
