New Hotel In Texas Medical Center

The first full-service hotel in the Texas Medical Center, the 22 story InterContinental TMC provides upscale accommodations and amenities for domestic and international guests. The 353-room hotel includes a signature InterContinental Club Lounge, 37 suites, restaurant and bar, outdoor pool, fitness center and medical suite. Additional features include nearly 12,000-sf of meeting space made up of seven meeting and board rooms and a 7,800-sf grand ballroom for use by the hotel and medical center.
The hotel structure consists primarily of two-way post-tensioned concrete slabs supported by concrete columns and is stabilized by concrete shear walls.

The Level 9 amenity deck, which incorporates a swimming pool, sits on a 77 foot span over the grand ballroom. This was accomplished structurally without the addition of long span steel trusses by designing post-tensioned concrete girders capable of meeting both the strength demands and deflection restrictions of the pool.

The hotel shares a lobby with a Greystar apartment development, Latitude Med Center. A single continuous mat foundation supports both developments providing reduced foundation costs for each.

The hotel sits atop a 7-level secured parking garage that is open to the public and located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center.
