New LEED Gold Office Building

IMEG provided structural engineering design services for the Patriots Plaza, a 1 million-sf high-security office complex in Washington, D.C. IMEG carefully coordinated the intricate detailing of all structural systems including special column designs, rebar detailing, and splicing locations.

The complex consists of three 12-story office buildings with five levels of below-grade parking under each building. The buildings are designed with enhanced security features to provide a safe working environment suitable for government or private tenants. All three phases of the complex are comprised of mild reinforced concrete and constructed to effectively prevent progressive collapse failure. Exterior concrete walls are hardened in public areas, and the exterior facades are designed to resist blast loads. Patriots Plaza Phases II and III are certified LEED Core & Shell Gold.
