New Irvington House Residence Hall – LEED Gold

IMEG provided engineering design services for a second new campus student residence facility, Irvington House, at Butler University, located on the main route to campus. The 4-story building features student rooms, a large multi-purpose room, lounges on each floor, and a cardio fitness center. The new facility holds 647 beds and was built in partnership with American Campus Communities.

Engineers provided MEP and fire protection design for the residence hall The systems were designed to meet LEED goals for building envelope performance, overall energy use, and material management.

The equipment selections included direct-expansion refrigeration fan coil units, central water heating and softening, fire protection and sprinklers, supply/return/ exhaust ducts, plumbing, power, and lighting.

Sustainable features include occupancy sensors throughout each living unit, high-efficiency mechanical units, and fully LED lighting systems.
