New LEED Platinum Office Building

IMEG provided structural engineering design for the 12-story, 250,000-sf 455 Massachusetts Avenue office building that serves as a gateway to the thriving East End and Central Business
Districts on one side and Capitol Hill and Union Station on the other. The building features glass on three sides, a plaza, lobby and retail/restaurant spaces consisting of about 15,000-sf on the ground floor, and a rooftop terrace with views of the Capitol.

The building sits above four levels, 105,000-sf of below-grade parking (228 spaces) and includes a three-level vaulted area with mechanical penthouse on the roof. The structural framing for the building is cast-in-place mild steel reinforced concrete and the facade is a combination of precast concrete panels and a glass curtain wall. 455 Massachusetts Avenue, NW achieved LEED for Existing Buildings Platinum certification.
