Elgin Community College plans $55 million manufacturing center

Elgin Community College plans to build a $55 million manufacturing center. It will give students more opportunities to train for high-skill manufacturing jobs.

ECC’s programs for heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration (HVAC-R); energy management; industrial maintenance; mechatronics; CNC (computer numerical control), pipe welding and quality control will be housed in the 125,000-sf building to be built at Spartan Drive and McLean Boulevard.

Elgin-area employers asked the community college to create job training programs for their current and prospective workers. Employer donations will be used for building costs.

IMEG will provide structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology design engineering services for the facility.
