IMEG helping vertical farming start-up Fifth Season open robotic farm in Ohio

A vertical robotic farming company is expanding into Columbus, OH.

Fifth Season plans to open its second farm in 2023. The Pittsburgh, PA-based company supplies retailers like Giant Eagle and Kroger with ready-to-eat salads grown indoors at vertically stacked farms run by artificial intelligence and robots.

IMEG supplied bridging documents — designing 35% of a project to allow the owner to solicit proposals from design-build contractors and receive responsive bids. The bridging documents included an integrated schematic plan covering architectural, structural concept, mechanical, electrical and building technology (low voltage) initial engineering services for the 180,000-sf farm operation that will use renewable solar energy and an onsite microgrid.

Fifth Season is one of the largest and fastest-growing vertical farms in the world.
