San Bernardino County to build a new animal shelter

San Bernardino County plans to spend up to $45 million on a new animal shelter in Bloomington, CA, and to update the current shelter for use as an emergency shelter.

IMEG will provide structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology engineering services for the new shelter complex.

The six-acre site, a former park, will include an 18,000-sf two-story main building, a 3,000-sf veterinary clinic, a 2,400-sf adoption center, a 4,200-sf cat house, a 3,000-sf quarantine building, a 600-sf morgue, a 2,700-sf intake building, and five 5,670-sf kennel buildings. It will include provisions for a 5,670-sf kennel building to be built later.

Construction is expected to take three to five years.
