Two IMEG-engineered projects win AIA Colorado design awards

The Colorado Chapter of the American Institute of Architects has honored two IMEG-engineered projects with 2022 Design Awards.

The annual awards highlight the best work of AIA Colorado member firms, spotlight notable architecture, and showcase the firms’ contributions to the state.

The winners included:

The Denver Water administration building | Architect: Stantec

The new headquarters of Colorado’s oldest water utility is a model of sustainable design. The headquarters – part of the redevelopment of the utilities’ 36-acre complex – earned LEED Platinum and meets net-zero energy and water efficiency goals.

The judges said, “The Denver Water administration building is a model for employee-led operation improvements, healthy and equitable workspaces with meaningful environmental benefits, and substantial utility reduction while having a bold and well-executed form. Excellent performance metrics are achieved in this comprehensive design.”

IMEG provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing design engineering services and building performance analysis. The work included designing a first-of-its-kind wastewater treatment and rainwater capture system. Learn more here.

The 410 | Architect: Gensler

Gensler reimagined the lobby of a 1970s-era office tower to attract a new generation. It includes expanded indoor and outdoor lobby areas, a meeting space, a café, glass curtain wall, and ground-floor conference center, along with a mezzanine level with a full gym, yoga studio, and locker room.

“The Four Ten reimagines the traditional 1970s office building lobby as an active, welcoming, inclusive, and functional space designed to delight,” the judges said. “It crafts a public lobby experience focused on promoting health and wellness through a light-filled, operable façade while dramatically improving the interaction with the streetscape and integrating clever and playful interior details.”

IMEG provided electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design along with architectural lighting services.
