Terminal and Baggage Claim Expansion

Quad Cities International Airport

IMEG Corp was commissioned as the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, technology and structural engineer for an extensive expansion of the Quad City International Airport. Expansion of the terminal and a new entrance way were completed to improve passenger services and the airport image. A phased construction schedule was developed to limit disruption of airport services. The project involved:

  •  A $5,600,000 new parking lot, entrance, roadway signs and ticket booth
  •  A $12,500,000 terminal expansion from 95,000 SF to 150,000 SF

Expansion of the terminal area features a new Concourse “A” and “B” with six independent jet gates and six regional/commuter gates; boarding bridges for all gates; concession areas; and additional seating lounges and restrooms. The baggage claim was expanded to provide more lobby space and a second carousel. Additional concession areas were established for food/beverage services and retail space.

The structural design was a key component in creating the desired architectural look and feel for the space. IMEG worked closely with the architectural team to ensure that even the smallest detail was compatible with the aesthetics of the space.
