Wintrust Arena lighting design receives IES Award of Merit

IMEG's architectural lighting designers were recently recognized for their work on the Wintrust Arena at McCormick Square with an Award of Merit from the IES 2018 Illumination Awards program.

The new arena at McCormick Square (the largest convention center in the country) was part of a redevelopment plan to transform the surrounding neighborhood into a vibrant entertainment district with new dining and entertainment venues, hotels, and streetscapes. The $150 million, 10,600-seat arena is used as a multi-purpose building for concerts, family events, and conventions, and is the home facility for DePaul University's NCAA basketball games. The facility includes 22 suites, club seating, team and support service spaces, broadcast facilities, concessions, restaurants, retail, and hospitality space.

In addition to architectural, sports and theatrical lighting, IMEG provided MEP, fire protection, and technology design along with energy modeling and construction administration. The facility opened in October 2017 and is targeting LEED certification.

The IES Illumination Awards program recognizes individuals for professionalism, ingenuity and originality in lighting design.
