National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility named ENR Midwest 2023 Project of the Year
An IMEG project has been named Engineering News-Record Midwest 2023 Project of the Year. The project will move on to compete in ENR’s national Best of the Best Awards.
The National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility, in Manhattan, KS, had previously been named the ENR Midwest 2023 Best Government/Public Building Project.
This first-in-the-U.S. facility features highest-level biocontainment laboratories and safety protocols for scientists to study and diagnose critical animal diseases. The new 48-acre campus includes the 500,000-sf main building, which houses animal containment laboratories and holding facilities, office, and facility support space. IMEG provided structural and security engineering.
The Book Depository in Detroit also was a finalist for ENR Midwest Project of the Year. It was previously named ENR Midwest Best Renovation/Restoration Project.
Vacant since 1987, Ford bought the Book Depository and renovated and reopened it as a global innovation center that eventually will house entrepreneurs, inventors, and companies focused on next-generation solutions in mobility. IMEG provided structural, MEP, fire protection, technology design, and acoustics architectural lighting services. Learn more.
