New Community Based Outpatient Center

TWO GREEN GLOBES CERTIFIED

IMEG provided engineering design and services for a new two-story, 120,000-sf Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Myrtle Beach, SC. The $28 million facility will offer treatment rooms, exam rooms, and office and support spaces for isolation, primary care, mental and behavioral health, digital radiology services, biomedical engineering, pathology and laboratory medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, prosthetics and sensory aides, and specialty areas.

Engineers are providing structural, MEP, fire protection, and technology design, as well as construction administration for the facility. The facility is located in a high-seismic and hurricane area, so special attention is given to the design of all the building systems to handle these situations.

The MEP design includes four 30,000 CFM DX packaged rooftop units, each 105 tons; gas-fired, high-efficiency condensing boilers with full redundancy, and hot water pumps.

The facility was formally assessed in 2021 and achieved Two Green Globes, demonstrating excellent progress in achieving reduction of environmental impacts and use of environmental efficiency practices.
