DOC Boiler Replacements

IMEG provided engineering services for a study to replace three steam boilers at Massachusetts Correctional Institute Bridgewater. Three high-pressure steam boilers exceeded their useful life and needed immediate replacement. The existing dual fuel boilers burned natural gas as their primary fuel source with No. 4 fuel oil as back-up, which is no longer allowed. Additionally, the steam demand on campus changed over time, and the boiler size needed to be reduced to accommodate this. At the completion of this study, IMEG designed the replacement boilers on an accelerated schedule in an occupied facility with no downtime.
