Bio-Med Science Academy Addition

This project included a four-story addition with space for Bio-Med Science Academy and program space for NEOMED. The new 58,000-sf school houses 600 students in grades 7-12. The additional space for NEOMED includes 30,000-sf of medical simulation spaces, classroom and potential university related retail spaces on the first level.

IMEG provided technology engineering services for voice, data, A/V and security to integrate the new spaces into the existing building. IMEG worked closely with the medical simulation vendor and the owner to provide the required cabling and network infrastructure for the medical simulation suites. Access control and CCTV systems were expanded and configured to support the unique needs of the building which houses high school age students in addition to the college facilities. Unique challenges included tying the new addition to the adjacent building which featured a second level ball room adjacent to the new addition resulting in floor height offsets of up to four feet in some locations resulting in the need for creative cable tray and back bone routing between the new and existing sections of the building.

The project provided expanded teaching and support facilities to a growing campus simulation program and provide additional options for the STEM programs of the Bio-Med Science Academy while allowing the two different student populations to be kept separate from each other for daily activities yet allow for collaborative interaction when warranted.

Project was designed on-time and within budget allowing the owner to continue to grow and offer new educational programs to meet current and future medical needs.
