Convention Center Expansion & Renovation – LEED Silver

The LEED Silver certified Kentucky International Convention Center project was a full renovation of the convention center and includes 162,000-square-feet of new space and renovation of 397,000-square-feet of existing space.

IMEG provided services for the complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure of legacy systems west of the 3rd Street Bridge. Sustainable measurements include sub-metering of tenant spaces and major loads, and sustainable features include heat recovery air handling systems, frictionless bearing chillers, and variable speed fans and pumps.

The project created 230,000-square-feet of exhibit hall space, and the renovation relocated and expanded the ballroom, kitchen, and meeting rooms. The elevator and escalators were also renovated and/or replaced and portions of the existing skywalk system were relocated.

The Convention Center is bordered on all sides by city streets resulting in the expansion taking place on the existing footprint.
