Maintenance Facility Expansion

IMEG provided professional design services for the Design-Build addition to the maintenance building and covered bus parking and access ways at the SunLine Transit Agency in Long Beach. The scope of work included an addition of approximately 2,200-sf to the existing maintenance building with upgrades to the various systems of the maintenance buildings, the construction of an eight-bay bus canopy, and 32 bus parking spaces with the associated site preparation, paving, and amenities. 

The design included civil, structural, and MEP services. The mechanical design included an evaporative cooling system, catalytic infra-red heaters, water misting cooling system for the existing service bays and the new service bays, ventilation system, and a methane and hydrogen gas detection system were designed for the new service bays. 

The civil design included the preparation of outline specifications and plans in order to provide direction to the design-build team. Engineers also provided plan-checking services for SunLine to verify the adequacy of the plans being prepared by the contractor’s design team.
