Medical Equipment Planning for Bed Tower Addition

Mercy Health Saint Mary’s Campus is an integrated health campus encompassing more than 2,500 employees; a 344-bed acute hospital in downtown Grand Rapids. The hospital has 120 primary care physicians and 50 specialists on its roster. Mercy Health Saint Mary’s is a member of Trinity Health, the fourth largest Catholic health care system in the country. Saint Mary’s took on this project to upgrade their existing OR technology to meet the demands of a dynamically changing demographic markets. The project includes sixteen operating rooms which includes two Hybrid Operating Rooms. The new-look operating rooms were supported with 46 renovated Pre-OP and 17 PACU rooms. IMEG is responsible for a full range of medical equipment planning services and construction coordination. IMEG provided support to architects, engineers, and contractors by providing them with accurate specification for any requested equipment. We challenged the routine thinking of the users and came up with acceptable solution for new-age OR’s. The hospital achieved over $1 million dollars in savings by re-using some of existing valid technology.
