New High-End Mixed-Use Building

IMEG’s Portland structural team provided engineering design and services for this high-end, mixed-use project in Portland that houses 20,000-sf of national retail, restaurant, and office tenants. The upscale architectural design is accomplished with extensive use of brick veneer, roof features, and custom steel canopies. Engineering challenges included the design of special seismic truss frames to resist lateral loading free of diagonal bracing, vibration analysis of second floor office space to accommodate a dentist office’s lease agreement, and field bolting of custom canopies, which allowed the contractor to install canopies after the building shell had been completed.
