New Office Building Structure

IMEG’s San Francisco structural team provided engineering design and services for the Sobrato Office Tower at 488 Almaden Boulevard in San Jose, CA. The tower is an 18-story, 100% structural steel-frame office building with a precast concrete, glass and stone exterior skin. The building area includes 390,000 square feet of office space and parking for 1,100 cars. With eleven elevators and three major stairways, this structure has three floors of underground parking and eight floors of above ground parking attached to the office tower, totaling 440,017-sf. This project also includes two floors of mechanical penthouse above the office tower.
