New State-Of-The-Art Complex with Chiller

The Performing Arts Center supports one of the region’s leading fine arts programs. The project consisted included a music recital hall and theatre, a parking garage, a central chilled water plant, and extensive streets and grounds improvement. The new 43,700-sf state-of-the-art complex features a 400-seat proscenium theatre with fly tower and a 300-seat recital hall, rehearsal spaces, staging areas, classrooms, and a grand lobby. The parking garage is designed for 450 cars, with a 10,500 campus telephone switch facility, and retail space embedded.

IMEG provided design services for a new central chilled water plant containing a 1,500 ton chiller with space and infrastructure for a future 1,500 ton chiller. The new HVAC system was tied into the existing campus system with chilled water piping coming from the new South Central Plant. Design also included provisions to provide chilled water to the Butler, Lantana, and Sterry housing buildings.

Electrical design included underground electrical distribution ductbank and manholes for the new electrical service required to provide the campus a secondary source of incoming power from a different substation, and to serve both the current and future loads of the new central plant.
