New Urban Mixed-Use Student Housing

IMEG provided structural engineering design services for the 386,500-sf mixed-use project featuring two cast-in-place concrete student housing towers atop a three-story university center podium. With a connecting longspan composite joist atrium and sky lounge, occupants can view the Hudson River and the New York City skyline. The north tower offers 18 stories of student housing and the south tower has 16 stories of student housing for a total of 1,000 beds. The eastern edges of the towers end in glassy angular student lounges.

The western side of the university center was designed with a traditional aesthetic that derives from the historic red brick campus vernacular, while the eastern edge of the projects lends itself to contemporary glass volumes to maximize internal views and daylighting.
