Office Build-out

Intelsat, world-leading provider of satellite communication services, located its U.S. Headquarters in the 20-story Tysons Tower next to the Metro Silver Line in Northern Virginia. IMEG provided structural design services for Intelsat’s 180,000-sf tenant build-out and Tysons Tower.

The scope of work included the build-out on floors 14-20 and structural engineering for the office tower. The modern and futuristic headquarters features floor-to-ceiling glass windows, open and collaborative workspaces, and a two-story operations center showcasing Intelsat’s extensive fleet of satellites in space. The office tower structural system is a two-way flat slab with post-tensioned slab-beams in one direction and lightly reinforced non-post-tensioned slabs in the other direction. This system provided Intelsat with maximum flexibility for a six-story monumental stair connecting between floors, a 28-ft high-bay, 330-person multipurpose space and full-height skyfold partition.

A 3,800-sf rooftop terrace provides panoramic views of the National Capital Region.
