Open End Contract for Engineering Services

Since 1984, IMEG has provided contract-engineering services to 3M under an Open-End Contract agreement. The agreement contracts for engineers, design technicians, and construction administrators, employed by IMEG, to work on-site daily at the 3M plant in Cordova, Illinois.

The contract employees supplement 3M’s in-house Engineering Department to assist with evaluations, feasibility studies, capital planning, engineering design, AutoCAD and PACE design, and construction management. Project types include facility renovations, expansions, new construction, process piping layouts, and process utility upgrades.

The manpower required from IMEG varies annually, depending on capital programs and workload for the year. A group of approximately eight IMEG engineers and technicians have received specialized safety training to work at the 3M plant. The contract employees are selected from this group to provide 3M with continuity and familiarity with plant policies, procedures, and systems. Terms of the contract, including manpower and rates, are negotiated annually.
