Rice Seed Facilty
IMEG was selected to provide Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural engineering, and Commissioning services for a new Rice Seed conditioning facility in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Design services included establishing the project scope, program, Process Flow Diagrams, Site layout,Building arrangement, Equipment layout, and Equipment specification. Facility design is based upon the client’s current needs and future expansion. IMEG served as a liaison between the client and equipment manufacturers, working with both parties to select the proper equipment for the project. The seed processing design is integrated across all design disciplines to provide a facility that is easy to maintain, inspect, and clean.
The new facility includes a receiving building, bulk storage bins with an enclosed fill conveyor system, pre-cleaning, conditioning, and packaging operations. A complete dust collection system is incorporated to promote cleanliness and operator safety. The facility also contains warehouse space with loading docks, dry lab and office support spaces, and a cold storage room for preservation of valuable foundation seed varieties.
Additionally, IMEG partnered with established Civil and Architectural design firms to provide a complete project design for our client. IMEG collaborated with the Owner, Architect, and Construction Manager to provide a project scope that would satisfy the seed processing and warehouse storage needs of the client while maintaining the project budget restraints. The project began construction in the summer of 2015 and was operational in August 2016.
IMEG also provided full commissioning services for the seed processing portion of the facility. IMEG created
the commissioning plan in cooperation with the General Contractor and Owner. IMEG also provided equipment checklists, tracking logs, and other documentation for contractor use. Services included document review and control, functional testing oversight, on-site management support, and operator training.
