Sports Complex

IMEG provided engineering design and services for the new 265,000-sf Multi Sports Field and 54,000-sf Fun Center in Bettendorf, IA. Located on a 78-acre site, the two-level building comprises six acres. The complex includes an indoor, regulation-size, synthetic turf soccer field; basketball and volleyball courts; and an indoor entertainment center with bowling, laser tag, restaurant, and game room. 

The exterior included four synthetic turf multi-use fields for baseball, softball, and soccer; two synthetic turf baseball fields; two synthetic turf exterior soccer fields; six sand volleyball courts; 10 batting cages; 1,500-car parking lot; concession stand; and maintenance building. 

IMEG provided the surveying and civil site design for the synthetic turf football/soccer field, track reconstruction, spectator plaza, field lighting revisions, concession stand, entry gate, and plaza area. IMEG also provided the site design, construction administration, drainage and storm water permitting, soil remediation design, detailed grading, utility relocates, and pavement revisions for the project. 

IMEG also provided geotechnical exploration and construction material testing services. Surrounding the indoor facility are several exterior athletic fields and parking areas. Soft soils were prevalent near subgrade and foundation bearing elevations. This required special design and constructability considerations to accommodate the construction schedule and planned construction traffic loads.
