Terminal 3 Modernization Project
IMEG is providing commissioning authority services for the five-year, three-phase modernization of the airport’s Terminal 3. Our commissioning scope of work includes schematic design through warranty phase of the project, performing or overseeing the commissioning of all MEP systems, building envelope, roofing, passenger boarding bridges, and baggage handling systems. IMEG is providing direct commissioning services for HVAC systems including a new 4,000-ton central plant, all mechanical systems, electrical, lighting controls, plumbing, fire alarm, fire suppression, and assisting with the commissioning of baggage handling systems. Additional services being provided by our commissioning team includes:
- Review construction design and construction documentation
- Visit the airport construction site to assess progress and ensure that work goes smoothly and as the documents stipulate
- Perform functionally test completed electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building automation systems to verify operation in accordance with the design documentation requirements.
Changes to the main terminal building included a consolidated security checkpoint, additional baggage-handling capacity, new food and retail concessions, and an expanded curb for drop-off and pickup are also included in the project. The South Concourse will be replaced by a new, 15-gate structure parallel to the main building. The North Concourse will see upgraded concessions and other amenities.
Terminal 3 will remain open during construction, which officials expect to complete in 2020.
