Christ Child Society to build new $11 million residential center in Detroit

Christ Child Society of Detroit plans to build a new $11 million residential building and gymnasium to continue its mission of providing trauma-informed residential treatment to boys ages 5 to 16.

The 18,000-sf Christ Child House will include 20 single bedrooms, four double bedrooms, food service, administrative offices, clinical care space and back-of-house support space, along with a 5,000-sf elementary school-sized gymnasium. It will be twice the size of the current center, which has served more than 3,000 children over 73 years.

IMEG will provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design services for the project as a subconsultant to Fusco, Shaffer & Pappas. A ground-breaking date has not yet been set.
