Towers top out at North Union development in Chicago 

The adjacent towers at 868 and 920 N. Wells St., Chicago have topped out.  

They are part of the $1.3 billion North Union development, a 2.9 million-sf site at the former Moody Bible Institute property. 

At 920 N. Wells, a 325,000-sf building will have 238 residential units, about 8,000-sf of ground-floor retail space, a vehicle/bicycle parking garage, and rooftop amenity deck.  

The 27-story tower at 868 N. Wells will house 411 housing units, a 144-space parking garage, and 14,545-sf of retail space.

IMEG is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology engineering design, along with energy modeling services and commissioning for 920 N. Wells, and commissioning for 868 N. Wells, as a subconsultant to Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture.  

JDL is the developer. Power Construction is serving as general contractor.  

The towers are expected to be finished in 2024.
