Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT, plans $280M expansion

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT, is planning a $280 million expansion and renovation project.

A new 190,000-sf, eight-story tower will add 59 beds. An additional 30,000-sf will be renovated, and a 4,500-sf bridge will be added to access the parking garage across the street.

It is expected to open in 2025.

The new medical tower will serve NICU, PICU, bone marrow transplant, fetal medicine/surgery, and house a pharmacy, lobby, gift shop, conference center, and food services. Inpatient medical surge/psych beds and support areas will be renovated.

The plan aims to position Connecticut Children’s as a national center for fetal care, one of only a handful of centers that offers that kind of care.
