Denver residential towers to be first Top-Down construction project in the U.S.

The eVolve Towers in Denver’s Arapahoe Square District will be the first Top-Down construction project in the U.S.

Design-build contractor TGE Top Down’s proprietary construction method erects the building’s core first, then builds the roof and decks on the ground and lifts them into place one-by-one, from the top down.

In 2018, TGE Top Down built a $112 million, 10-story, 621,000-sf office building in Bangalore, India, the first use of the Top-Down method since its invention in the 1970s. This construction method proved to be quicker, less expensive, less labor-intensive, and more environmentally friendly than traditional construction, TGE found.

The $122 million eVolve Towers project will have two core-supported towers with cantilevered floors totaling 398,952-sq-ft. Each tower will include 18 stories of residences over a five-story podium with ground-floor retail and four levels of parking.

IMEG will provide civil and structural engineering design services for the project, which is expected to break ground in mid-2023.

The developer is eVolve Development Holdings LLC/Ubuntu Partners, Oz Architects and Sanzpont Spain are the architectural design firms.
