Harris Health System to break ground on new Houston hospital

Harris Health System will break ground May 9, 2024, on a new $1.6 billion hospital to replace the Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in Houston.

The 12-story, 1.3 million-sf hospital will seek Level 1 trauma center certification and have 450 beds, 15 operating rooms, a hybrid operating room, imaging department, emergency center, lab and pharmacy, nuclear medicine department, cardiology department, and a labor and delivery center.

IMEG is providing medical equipment planning for the facility, which is expected to open in 2028.
