Two projects from Cameron Engineering, an IMEG company, received ACEC New York Engineering Excellence Awards

Two projects from Cameron Engineering, an IMEG company, were named 2024 ACEC New York Engineering Excellence Award winners in their respective categories. The AvalonBay Residential Communities at Harbor Isle in Long Island, NY, won a Gold Award in the environmental category and the Roosevelt Island Sportspark Facility Renovation Project won a Silver Award in the building/technology systems category.

The AvalonBay Residential Communities project (pictured) required the redevelopment of a former brownfield site into the 11.6-acre residential community, necessitating innovative solutions to prepare the site for construction. A new, ultra-lightweight fill material made of recycled glass was used to raise the site to the proper elevation. Cameron Engineering, an IMEG company, provided civil engineering design, landscape architecture, and construction administration. Read the IMEG case study.

The renovation of the Roosevelt Island Sportspark, a two-story recreational facility, transformed the nearly 50-year-old building to accommodate additional services and amenities that better serve the community. Extensive upgrades to the MEP systems serving the reconfigured spaces as well as the facility’s pool and basketball court demonstrate how the latest innovative engineering techniques and applications can vastly improve comfort while maintaining energy and cost efficiency.
